ROSELLA Golden Mantle (Eastern) – Rubino
Identification: The Rubino Golden Mantle Rosella is a captivating color mutation of the Eastern Rosella. It has a predominantly pinkish-red plumage, with a golden mantle on its back. The wings are predominantly pinkish-red, and the tail feathers are pinkish-red with black tips. The cheeks and throat are white, and the bill is pale grey.
Size/Weight: Similar to the standard Golden Mantle Rosella, the Rubino variant measures around 12-14 inches (30-35 cm) in length and weighs approximately 3.5-5 ounces (100-140 grams).
Lifespan: In captivity, Rubino Golden Mantle Rosellas can live for about 15-20 years with proper care and a suitable environment.
Breeding: Breeding habits of the Rubino Golden Mantle Rosella are similar to the standard Eastern Rosella. They form monogamous pairs and build their nests in tree hollows or nest boxes. The female lays around 4-8 eggs, which she incubates for about 19-21 days. The chicks fledge after approximately 5-6 weeks.
Diet and Feeding: Rubino Golden Mantle Rosellas have the same dietary preferences as the standard Eastern Rosella. They primarily feed on a variety of seeds, fruits, berries, and blossoms. Insects, larvae, and nectar can also be included in their diet. A balanced diet consisting of seeds, pellets, fresh fruits, and vegetables is essential for their well-being.
